Pacific Motorway Upgrade

Brisbane, Queensland

This project involved the upgrade of the high performance, low maintenance Pacific Motorway. The upgrade was undertaken in joint venture.

FEATURES:

  • a complex and tightly managed sequence of small sections of new work and sequential switching of traffic
  • 6.3km of existing Pacific Motorway upgraded to 8 lanes and 1.6km of the Logan Motorway upgraded to 4 lanes
  • 3 grade separated interchanges, 1 overpass bridge, new 4 lane bridge over the Albert River, widening of 2 existing Logan River bridges, pedestrian overpass
  • extensive earthworks, including treatment and disposal of acid sulphate soil.

BENEFITS:

  • rideabilities produced were much better than those specified
  • successful management of the local environment, residents and business interests, and
  • smooth flow of high-density through-traffic during the construction period.
