This project involved the upgraded integration of an additional coal handling export facility to the existing Cooranbong Coal Handling Plant.
The Plant now includes a truck loading system and an export stock pile stacker.
FEATURES:
The Cooranbong Coal Handling Plant receives coal from the underground Centennial Coal Mine located close by. Run of Mine coal is delivered via an underground south drift conveyor to a 2,000t storage bin on the surface, and adjacent to the existing Coal Processing Plant. The upgrade involved the following:
- modifications to the existing ROM Bin interface to a new 1200tph truck loading bin and stockpiling system
- installation of a 1200t nominal capacity truck loading bin
- installation of a fully automatic twin truck loading system
- installation of 2000t/h rated conveyor systems, including a truck bin transfer conveyor and a new export stockpile conveyor
- installation of all required electrical powered reticulation and control systems
- re-installation of all the required reticulated services to the ROM Bin, and
- installation of the separate wash down and fire fighting and stockpile dust suppression spray systems and tie-ins to existing services.
BENEFITS:
Laing O'Rourke drew on its internal, multi-disciplined engineering and construction expertise to deliver the upgrade within a tight timeframe.
The civil works and piling were undertaken by Expanded (a Laing O’Rourke subsidiary company), and a modular, pre-engineered stressed skin conveyor system manufactured by Redispan was incorporated into the upgrade.
Fully operational, the upgrade now allows Centennial Coal the capacity to increase the output of the mine to allow for the export of their high grade coal to the open market and to continue to feed the Eraring Power Station their full requirements.
