Southern Hotel, Toowoomba, South West Queensland
The Southern Hotel was upgraded and refurbished to further increase its appeal and popularity with the local community, on a Construct Only Fixed Lump Sum basis.
FEATURES:
- extension and major upgrade to the kitchens
- complete upgrade of the main entrance
- upgrade of the bar areas
- provision of new office and storage areas
- upgrade of electrical and air conditioning services
- partial removal and replacement of the roof which included a new plant platform for the upgraded mechanical services
- upgrade of the entrances and turn-in lanes into the hotel from the adjacent main road along with a minor upgrade to the car parking to enhance the safety and convenience of patrons
- provision of a temporary kitchen.
BENEFITS:
- extensive refurbishment experience and close co-operation between the Client and Architect, resulted in proactive, cost effective solutions to expected problems in a refurbishment of this type
- extra works, as instructed by the Client, were completed without extension to the tight construction schedule
- progressive hand-over of completed areas was undertaken, in conjunction with the Client, prior to completion.
