As one of Australia's largest infrastructure projects, the Alice Springs to Darwin Railway links the north and south Australia with the rest of the world.
FEATURES:
- 1,420 km railway, comprising 15 million cubic metres of earthworks, 1,500 culverts, 93 bridges, 2.8 million tonnes of ballast, 2 million sleepers, 8 million sleeper fastenings and 145,000 tonnes of rail
- responsibility for the Trackwork North team, which undertook 649.5km of tracklaying, initially proceeding southward from Katherine before meeting the Tennant Creek-based trackwork team midway and then relocating back to Katherine to tracklay north to Darwin
- responsibility for the construction of five major bridges spanning the Katherine, Edith, Adelaide, Cullen and Elizabeth rivers, the refurbishment of the Fergusson River Bridge and three Katherine floodplain bridges
- production and supply of 2 million sleepers by subsidiary company, Austrak Pty Ltd.
