What kind of issues have arisen on this site?
I guess for this particular site, we have cultural heritage, marine turbidity because we're in-filling sea at this point to build the wharf, spill management, and actually working quite close to the water's edge. We've been working very hard to reduce the amount of waste that's going to landfill from our site, so we've got about 6 or 7 different types of bins that we can separate our waste into, and we really try to encourage that on site.
What is your role with regard to preservation of cultural heritage on this site?
There's rock art, there's over a million separate pieces of art on the Burrup itself. There's middens, which are like big piles of shells, and there's fish traps. So we've basically fenced them off and signed them off, and we have weekly inspections to make sure they're all kept intact.
Has Laing O'Rourke taken the sustainability agenda to heart?
It's really important to really talk to the guys, toolbox meetings, pre-starts, and it's just amazing how responsive they can be, it's fantastic.
