What challenges do you face here in Port Hedland?
Port Hedland has a shifting population. A lot of people come up here, they want to make more money, and who can blame them, but it makes things a little difficult here for us, in that people come and go over time, and keeping the skills that we require is very difficult. But it's a problem all of Port Hedland shares, all the major industries have the same problem.
We're trying to produce about 10,000 sleepers a week. We have difficulties with raw materials some times, we certainly have difficulties with labour, but having said that we're managing to do all that's asked of us.
What is the key to safety in this working environment?
Safety wise it's a matter of keeping everybody trained so they avoid small, minor accidents.
