 What are the advantages of the Ascenders Program rotation system?

 The rotations on the graduate program have worked quite well for me. I’ve been at Luggage Point for nine months now doing site engineering, and then I’m moving onto a commercial role after this. It gives me exposure to a lot of different areas within  the company.

 What training and development have you undertaken?

 The training and development has been quite good. We’ve had a few in-house sessions now where we go away for residentials. Essentially they’re management-type skills: team building, skills that improve communication. I’ve found it very valuable.

 Why did you choose Laing O’Rourke?

 The reasons why I came to Laing O’Rourke were similar to the reasons I chose to join the graduate program. I was interested in infrastructure and mining construction. Laing O’Rourke is a big, worldwide company and the fields they work in are the fields that I want to work in. To me, it was a good fit. I’ve been really enjoying it. I’ve had a good time in this job. It’s been challenging and I’ve definitely been busy. In the nine months I’ve learned an incredible amount.
