A new $275 million sustainable office complex will be built in the Brisbane suburb of Bowen Hills to house several government agencies.
The Queensland Government has named Laing O'Rourke as the successful tenderer for the Bowen Hills government office building, which will house several state agencies.
The Hudd Street complex, adjacent to the railway station, will target a six-star, Green Star rating and comprise 30,000m² of net lettable office area and 1,500m² of retail space. It will accommodate Queensland Health, the Department of Transport and Main Roads and a Government Services Counter.
In a statement today, the Minister for Government Services and Building Industry Simon Finn said:
“This project will provide a significant catalyst for further development within the Bowen Hills Urban Development Area as it is located in the ‘symbolic heart’ of the precinct. This is not only about creating work environments built around public transport, it’s also about providing opportunities for active transport – that’s why a significant feature of the new building will be end-of-trip facilities for 400 bicycles.
“A range of features will be incorporated into the building’s design to maximise energy and water efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create a healthy indoor environment.More than 1,500 jobs will be created over the life of the project,” Minister Finn said.
