On Monday 4 October more than 200 Laing O’Rourke Building North staff volunteered for local charities and organisations that were either associated with, or jointly operate out of, the communities where our projects are situated across Queensland and the Northern Territory.
The Community Day is now an annual event that forms part of Building North’s EPIC Agenda that demonstrates our commitment to the communities in which we work.
Laing O’Rourke gives employees one paid leave day every year so staff can volunteer their time to a charity of their choice.
The staff volunteered for 15 community organisations including Braille House in Annerley, Riding for the Disabled in Darwin and St Andrew’s Meals on Wheels in Townsville.
They carried out a range of work including maintenance, repairs and landscaping.
Laing O’Rourke Executive General Manager (Building North) Lawrie Foster said each and every one of the organisations did fantastic work in their local area.
“The day was a huge success and was a great way to keep in touch with the local communities where we work,” Mr Foster said.
“It is an incredible feeling to be able to give something back to the local community, particularly to organisations that really deserve our support.”
