On 3 October 2006, Barclay Mowlem will begin trading as Laing O’Rourke.
On 30 June, Laing O’Rourke purchased Barclay Mowlem from its UK parent, Carillion plc. The business has since been integrating with the Laing O’Rourke Australian operation to create a new business hub for the global group that will look to develop opportunities in Australia and Asia.
Under the leadership of Andrew Wilson, Executive Chairman, and Matthew Furrer, Managing Director, the company is focused on investing and developing its human capital, positioning the company for growth and becoming a Development and Construction partner of choice.
Laing O’Rourke is the largest privately owned development, construction and specialist company in the UK. With a $7b turnover, and 25,000 employees world-wide, the business is growing rapidly, now operating in three international hubs:
• Europe
• Middle East and India,
• Australia and Asia.
The company is also a member of CLM, the consortium which will assist the Olympic Delivery Authority to manage the construction program for the venues and infrastructure for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
