John O’Connor has spent his entire career with Laing O’Rourke, joining as a cadet in 1988 and appointed Commercial Director for the Australasia hub in October 2010.

With more than 20 years in the industry across the globe, John brings considerable experience to his role with a background in airports, rail, health, high rise mixed use projects, retail outlets and industrial facilities.

He has spent the last 14 years working on international assignments, particularly in the Middle East holding a number of senior positions including Commercial Director of the Abu Dhabi arm of the business and most recently Commercial Director of the Laing O’Rourke United Arab Emirates Unit.

John is a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Salford in the United Kingdom.
