Chairman - Jim Sloman OAM

 

In 2010 Jim Sloman was appointed as Chairman of the Laing O’Rourke Australia Hub.

Jim brings an extraordinary wealth of experience and knowledge to the company, with a 40 year career across the building and infrastructure space.

He sits on a number of public and private boards and has been a member of the Laing O'Rourke Advisory Board since 2008.

Jim was the Chief Operating Officer of the Sydney 2000 Olympics and has gone on to advise the organising committees for Athens 2004, London 2012, Rio 2016 and the Rugby World Cups of 2003, 2007 and 2011.

He was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2002 for his work on the Sydney Olympics and Paralympics which are both regarded as some of the most successful games in Olympic history.

Jim is a Civil Engineer by training, with a degree from the University of Melbourne. He worked in London with Sir Robert McAlpine and Sons for 4 years and then spent over 23 years with Civil&Civic/Lend Lease in Australia.
